MJDS provides programming services to individuals experiencing disabilities. The LPN position duties include:
-Direct and actively execute medical care for clinically fragile participants.
-Administer all aspects of tracheotomy care including suctioning.
-Observe and assess participants state of health and determine if condition is within their scope of practice, or if additional medical treatment is required.
-Responsible to monitor and provide the lead in training employees in completing medical procedures (i.e., G-tubes, nebulizers, oxygen, appropriate procedure for medications being administered by employees, fit testing for specialized masks, etc.).
-Monitor, evaluate, and update participants care plans.
-Advocate on behalf of the participants health care needs and quality of life.
-Support, assist and build relationships with participants.
-Provide support to medication delivery team.
-Assist in personal care of participants.
-In consultation with the supervisor, maintain contact with residential teams and or families regarding assigned participants medical needs and health concerns.
-Ensure all medical equipment is in good/safe running order and identify medical supply needs.
-Administration of medications.
-Prepare written reports, assessments, and recommendations regarding a participants progressive health status.
-Actively engaging with participants in activities they have chosen to be involved in according to their person-centered plan and wishes.
-Understanding and anticipating antecedents to behaviours, and proactively prepare and inform participants of change (i.e., staff changes, visitors, unexpected events, etc.).
-Attend meetings and provide information regarding participants health.
-Accompany participants on community outing.
