Prevention: Provide culturally appropriate programs to educate and promote addiction awareness and addiction-free lifestyles, (linkages with ACYPS, Rec Centre, and Youth Centre)
Facilitate group-based intervention such as AA, ACOA, Al-Anon, NA
Intervention: Provide appropriate assessment of clients and referral of clients to treatment and
prepare clients for entry into residential treatment or other rehabilitation/treatment programs
Provide & prepare INTAKE of new clients
Prepare any treatment referral packages to treatment centres, healing lodges, and other services
Provide short-term counseling in crisis situations
Provide out-patient counseling services
Qualifications:
Social Service Worker Diploma or related discipline with equivalent combination of knowledge,
skills and life experiences preferred
Certificate in Addictions Counselling would be an asset
Minimum of 2 years' direct experience delivering programming, counseling, and case management
services to mental health and addiction clients
Working knowledge of First Nations cultures, traditions and values, and their influence and impact
on mental health and addictions
Working knowledge and understanding of the effects of the residential school system and the multigenerational impacts on first nation's men, women, youth and children living in various settings
Saskatchewan Class 5 driver's license and clean driving record
Knowledge of Criminal Justice Act an asset
First Aid/CPR Certificate or willing to train
