Reporting to the planner/supervisor, the Operator is responsible for working in various climates. Responsibilities include operating various machinery and mobile and heavy equipment to move materials around various locations on grounds safely and efficiently. In addition to operating equipment, this position assist with any additional labour needed to complete assigned duties.
Responsibilities:
1. Operate all mobile and heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
- Perform routine pre and post inspections along with maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging of batteries, fueling or replacing liquified gas tank, checking oil.
- Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored in proper areas.
2. Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
- Operate dump truck and front-end loaders/skid steers for the purpose of loading and unloading material such as dirt, sand, snow, gravel.
Hook trucks to trailer hitches and fasten attachments, such as graders, tractors, using hitch pins.
- Organizing and securing stored materials.
3. Assist with general labourer duties including but not limited to:
- Moving, setting-up and tearing down of equipment for various events, as directed by the lead/supervisor.
- Providing guidance concerning occupational health and safety when completing certain tasks with laborers.
Requirements:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Provincial drivers license.
Two years experience operating heavy and mobile equipment preferred. Previous relevant work experience will be considered.
Valid certification to operate heavy equipment preferred.
Possession of a valid CPR & First Aid certification card is an asset.
