Responsible for carrying out the Nursing process and utilizing all techniques and interpersonal skills to promote clients highest functioning ability and to enhance the quality of life for the client.
Patients hygiene, including bathing, mouth care, skin care, hair and nail care and perineal care
Take and record vital signs
Do dressing changes, including drains
Irrigate and care for colostomies
Insert, irrigate and care for urinary catheters
Supervise and administer medications, including I.V. and I.M. routers
Assist client with their program of self-medication
Record treatment and medications administered
Observe and record patients reactions to treatments and medications given
Care for chest tubes, including drainage and dressings
Monitor fluid intake and output
Test urine, Record and report if necessary
Tracheotomy care: suction, clean and change dressings
Prevent and care for decubitus ulcers
Apply and administer heat and cold (e.g. compresses)
Apply binders and bandages
Put the patient through both passive and active range of motion exercises
Complete the physical tasks along with meeting the emotional needs of the client and family
Recognize any deterioration in clients functioning ability and report to person in charge
Encourage the family and client to follow medical and nursing recommendations
Provide emotional support to clients and assess mental processes
Refer, coordinate and facilitate access to appropriate community resources
Be conscience of the hazards in the home environment and to act accordingly in meeting the safety and protection needs of the Client. In keeping with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Registered Nurse will take every reasonable precaution to ensure that the workplace is safe
-Previous experience in community Nursing would be an asset.
Must have minimum of 5 Years Experience.
Must Have Valid Driver's License. Able to commute outside the city.
Must be computer literate.
