1.The Executive Director oversees the heads of each department, including program development, HR management, financial management and staff retention and training.
2.Enables the Board of Directors to fulfill its governance function. Supports the Board of Directors in development of a vision and strategic plans, as well as set organizational policies. Attends Board meetings and submits reports for designated regions/programs. Supports operations and administration of the Board by advising and informing Board members, interfacing between Board and staff.
3.Gives direction and leadership towards the achievement of the agencys philosophy, mission, strategy, and its annual goals and objectives. Develops an operational plan which incorporate goals and objectives that work towards the strategic direction of the agency.
4.Supports and manages the operations and administration in all aspects of agencys operations. Develops, reviews and implements changes to policies and procedures. Negotiates all contracts for services provided by and/or for the agency.
5.Recommends yearly budget for Board approval and prudently manages agencys resources within those budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations. Oversees accounting functions and has overall responsibility for financial performance.
6.Ensures the agencys human resources functions and strategies are in compliance with the agencys policies and procedures. Supports Managers in hiring, training and disciplining staff, as appropriate. Hires, trains, supervises and disciplines direct report management team. Negotiates Collective Agreement and Wage Scales with CUPE Union Local 3481.
7.Knows and understands Government operations and protocols. Builds and maintains an effective network of government contacts. Ensures the accurate preparation and timely submission of all required reports to the Board and/or funding agencies.
