The Hospice at Glengarda is a faith based organization that is operated by Emmanuel Health and owned by St. Pauls Hospital. Situated in a quiet residential neighbourhood, the Hospice has fifteen bright and beautiful individual rooms, providing 24-hour care for people requiring full-time, hands-on care in light of advancing, end-stage illness.
The role of the Life Enhancement Guide is to contribute to the holistic care of patients and families, be it physical, emotional, social and cognitive through means of engaging in recreation pursuits. Life Enhancement Guide will promote the psychosocial wellbeing of all patients and plan and carry out interests and activities for patients, creating a diversity of opportunities for meaningful engagements, daily pleasures individualized for each patient. The Life Enhancement Guide honours all persons and is respectful of their unique journey and the interweaving of health, cultural, philosophical and/or spiritual tradition.
Life Enhancement Guide will collaborate with the Holistic Care Team to provide intervention that promotes the patients capacity for optimal psychosocial well-being; providing leadership in developing, implementing and evaluating recreation therapy interventions and programs that are meaningful and valued by patients, families, and the Interdisciplinary team; and representing Hospice at Glengarda in the community.
