Description

The English as an Additional Language (EAL) Monitor plays a vital role in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for newcomers to Holy Family Catholic School Division.  Assisting students in building their English language, working in a Catholic school setting, the EAL Monitor will help newcomer families navigate community supports and services while also assisting students in building their English language skills. The role requires strong cultural sensitivity, effective communication skills, and a commitment to supporting families through settlement in our school communities.  
Required Skills/Training:      
Post-secondary degree in a related field is an asset;
Experience in EAL support, settlement services, or related roles is an asset.
Knowledge of the Saskatchewan educational system is an asset.
Strong communication skills in the English language, both written and verbal, with a focus on clarity and cultural sensitivity.
Proficiency in additional languages is an asset but not required.
Experience working with culturally diverse families and communities.
Knowledge of community resources and services available to newcomers.
Familiarity with language acquisition strategies and EAL programming.
Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, families, and external organizations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, staff, and families;
Patience, empathy, and a solution-focused mindset when dealing with language and cultural diversity;
Excellent written/verbal communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;
Ability to work with personal and sensitive information and honor confidentiality;
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as a team player;
Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive and faith-based learning environment; and
Familiarity with Catholic education principles and practices is an asset;
