Description

2nd Steps has independent and assessment suites in the apartment building that serves high risk families. This position is for 2nd steps supportive living through SCG.

We are currently hiring for multiple positions from casual to part time, shifts are days, evenings, and nights.

The support worker will provide support and assistance to all clients of 2nd steps. You will ensure that all clients are adhering to the program rules and expectations. You must embody the harm reduction and trauma informed care model when providing support to 2nd steps residents. The support worker will work on daily tasks with clients such as life skills, routine building, accessing community resources, and parenting responsibilities.

The successful applicant will demonstrate knowledge of:
- Harm Reduction & Trauma and Violence Informed Care.
- Mental Health & Addictions.
- Child Protection Act.
- Assessment skills.
- Community agencies and related support services.
- Must retain active CPR and First Aid Certificate.
- Clear communication skills, teamwork, and relationship building.
- Strong Decision making abilities in a variety of situations.
- Naloxone training is an asset.

Responsibilities:
- Data entry & charting shift report.
- Assessing family dynamics.
- Teaching daily life skills.
- Provide individual support and facilitate case plans as directed by the clinical team.
- Support clients with referrals for transportation, food services, formula and/or other child needs.
- Check in with all clients residing in the building.
- Enforce and uphold lease agreements & program rules with residents.
- Regular monitoring of security cameras.
- Building checks.
- General cleaning duties.
- Ensuring safety of all clients and calling appropriate authorities if required.
