Description

Applications are invited for the non-permanent position of Recreation Attendant in the Parks, Recreation and Culture Department. These part-time positions will be located at the Alfred Jenkins Field House with hours available on a year-round basis.

The Recreation Attendant will be responsible to monitor recreation activities and instruct participants on facility etiquette and be an ambassador for all recreational activities at City facilities.

Applicants must be available to work mainly weekends with some weekday evening shifts.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
-Perform all duties specific to the AJFH Climbing Wall.
-Monitor activities throughout the recreation facility and prevent accidents through the enforcement of rules, policies and regulations governing the conduct of persons using the facility while promoting a leisure atmosphere.
-Respond to accidents and emergencies through prescribed procedures.
-Assist with development and implementation of programs in response to public needs and in keeping with innovations in the industry.
-Maintain and record accurate account of equipment.
-Assist with the implementation of promotional events.
-Prepare and instruct training lessons and/or programs.
-Maintain all areas of the facility and report facility deficiencies.
-Communicate with the public on facility rules, policies, and regulations to enhance public knowledge and safety.
-Collect, account for and deposit cash receipts.
-Attend to all inquiries through personal, telephone and written communication.

Required Qualifications:
Grade 12
Valid drivers license

Key Knowledge, Technical Skills and Abilities
First Aid and CPR C Certification from a recognized institution
Must be willing to work shifts, evenings and weekends, as required.
Must be willing to take a Climbing Wall instructor training course and/or certification course with the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides or equivalent.
Security Background check required
