Description

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) is seeking a results-oriented, dynamic and motivated individual for the position of Labour Service - Fire Base Supervisor located at the Lower Fishing Lake Protection Base

You will be responsible for supervising, assessing work performance, and providing leadership and direction to Type 1 fire fighters, support staff and various contract crews.

This position is responsible for the organization and co-ordination of fire suppression tactical and strategic response in the protection area, including pre-suppression activities, purchasing goods and services, fire response planning, public education, mitigating fire risks, and providing training.

Typical duties include preparing fire plans, developing daily wildland fire suppression plans, work with local governments, municipalities, and provide administrative functions.

Requirements include a valid drivers license, experience in fire management in a supervisory role, good
radio communication skills and good computer use skills.

The knowledge required for this position is typically gained by holding a high school diploma plus various progressive fire training courses supplemented with extensive and progressive experience with forest fire suppression field operations. The completion of a related technical diploma such as the integrated resource management or forest ecosystem technology program would be an asset.

Working conditions are primarily in an office environment but can extend to a field environment. The candidate must be able to be on call and work shifts though weekends and long hours in some situations.
