Description

Regina Immigrant Women Centre is an immigrant settlement agency dedicated to integrating newcomer women and their families. The Community Connections Outreach Worker will create opportunities for cross-cultural and inter-generational connections for vulnerable newcomer seniors and isolated Immigrant aimed at reducing social isolation, exchanging knowledge about traditions and customs, improving their awareness and confidence for increased engagement in Canadian society.

DUTIES
Work with the Coordinator to plan and collaborate with community, cultural, and faith-based organizations for in-person and virtual cross-cultural activities
Research and provide information on community events and activities to encourage participation by newcomer seniors and vulnerable immigrant women
Develop and deliver workshops and activities that promote community connections and improve client well-being
Establish partnerships with community organizations
Provide advocacy, accompaniment, and referral services for seniors
Prepare documents and organize logistics for workshops
Collect and maintain accurate reports in alignment with the programs mandate, input monthly statistical data into the  data tracking system
Available to work during weekends and/or evenings as required to accommodate the needs of the community
Other related duties as assigned by the manager of the unit


QUALIFICATIONS
A degree in Social Sciences, and a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in community outreach, advocacy, planning and facilitating workshops and group activities focused on settlement services for Newcomers
Extensive knowledge of Newcomer and Immigrant client populations and community-based services and programs
Valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle; and clear  Criminal Record Check
Skilled in independently managing and prioritizing diverse workload pressures to achieve program goals and meet client needs
Strong verbal and written communication skills
