The Settlement Worker in Schools (SWIS) program is a shared partnership between the Regina Open Door Society (RODS), the Regina Public School Board (RPSB) Regina Catholic Schools, Conseil des Ecoles Fransaskoises and Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). It is an outreach program to help newcomer students and their families settle in their school and community.
We are located in the City of Regina on Treaty 4 land, which is recognized as the traditional territory of the nhiyawak/Cree, Nahkaw/Saulteaux, Anihinpk, Dakota, Lakota, Nakoda, and the homeland of the Mtis Nation.
Desired qualifications/education
2 to 3 year's human services experience; A Post-Secondary education or related work experience are position requirements.
Additional requirements include excellent communication (oral and written), para- counseling, cross-cultural, leadership, motivational, and organizational skills
The successful candidate will possess the skills necessary to develop the program and work cooperatively and professionally as a representative of RODS in the school The successful applicant will also require a criminal record check, clean child abuse registry record, reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and a clean driver abstract.
Hours of work are Monday to Friday from 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM with 45 minutes lunch break. All positions at RODS require a clean criminal record/child abuse registry check. There is a cost shared benefits package available to the employee with successful completion of a six-month probationary period. The annual salary for this position is $42,379.85($24.15 per hour).
