The Youth After-Hours Crisis Support Worker (YAHCSW) provides critical support to youth in the Kinistin Saulteaux Nation community during evening and weekend hours. Working collaboratively with clients, families, and community programs, the YAHCSW will deliver services such as crisis intervention, support, education, referrals, and advocacy. This role requires the ability to act swiftly and compassionately, ensure confidentiality, and maintain accurate documentation. The position also involves developing youth-focused activities and initiatives that promote mental wellness and community engagement.
Crisis intervention and Support:
Provide immediate, face-to-face crisis support to youth in their natural settings (e.g., home or community).
Assess youth in crisis to determine their immediate needs and provide appropriate support or referrals.
Act as a liaison between youth, families, and healthcare services (e.g., hospitals, emergency departments).
Collaboration and Advocacy:
Work with Kinistin Saulteaux Nation programs, including Mental Health, Protection, and Prevention teams, to deliver holistic care.
Advocate for youth with external service providers, ensuring access to necessary resources and support.
Program Development and Implementation:
Develop and supervise evening and weekend youth activities, including recreational and wellness programs.
Facilitate online challenges and events to promote a healthy lifestyle among youth.
Supervise community facilities, such as the gym, during evening and weekend hours.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and detailed case notes for all client interactions.
Provide timely reports to the NEC prinicpal.
