Core Function:
To restore and/or enhance the mental, emotional and social health and well-being of Community Clinic clients. To do this through providing intake and screening of referrals made by physicians and Nurse Practitioners and then providing either brief therapy or referral to counselling or group programming.
Duties:
To provide secondary mental health screening to patients referred by SCC Physicians and NPs.
To provide brief psychotherapy to Community Clinic clients and family members.
To provide program leadership as dictated by client and program needs.
To work as part of the health care team.
To participate in health education activities.
To participate in the clinical supervision of practicum students.
Qualifications:
A Masters degree in Social Work or Psychology, or the equivalent in work experience, training and education. (To qualify as having the equivalent to a Masters degree, a person must have a Bachelor degree, such as a B.S.W. or B.A. (Hon. Psych) that includes several courses in counselling theory and practice and a counselling practicum, plus additional training and at least six years experience as a psychotherapist).
Eligible for registration in a professional association and eligible for liability insurance to practice psychotherapy
Three years experience as a mental health therapist.
Experience in intake triage and brief therapy.
Experience in intake triage and brief therapy.
Significant clinical training in a broad range of assessment and treatment skills.
Demonstrated ability to work as an independent practitioner within a multi-disciplinary primary health care team.
Compatible with the philosophy and policies of CHSA.
Must be bondable.
EMR experience preferred.
