Description

This is a temporary (6 month) position with the possibility of becoming permanent.
This full-time position is responsible for the general and preventative maintenance of the building as directed by the Building Maintenance Manager. The position is responsible to perform a variety of skilled duties, which may include light H.V.A.C. work, simple electrical repair, general maintenance, and maintenance of all mechanical systems.
This is a full-time position including after hours on-call responsibilities. Must be available to work daytime hours, but actual schedule is somewhat flexible.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with maintenance for all physical building operations.
Physical demands include, but are not limited to: walking, standing, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting up to 50lbs and using a step ladder.
Monitor and perform preventative maintenance on facilities and equipment at YWCA Saskatoon and the Saskatoon Community Village.
Skills in the following areas would be considered an asset: painting, carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical, dry wall, cement and tile masonry, or other recognized trades for the purpose of maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Must be 18 years of age or older
High school diploma preferred
Must possess a valid drivers license
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing; ability to create effective working relationships with employees and the public
Ability to accomplish requirements of the position adhering to maintenance best practices
Skill in operation of a variety of hand tools, power tools and equipment commonly used in building maintenance facilities
Thorough knowledge of proper safety techniques and procedures; ability to follow proper safety techniques according to YWCA Saskatoon policies
