Position Summary:
Reporting to the Shop Lead, the incumbent provides mechanical and fabrication trades support services to applied research and development projects in the shop and in the field.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are the general duties of these positions but are not inclusive of all the detailed tasks that may be required.
- Maintaining and repairing equipment
- Troubleshooting mechanical issues
- Data analysis to assess the performance of machinery
- Ensuring machine safety and maintenance
- Communicating with and supporting project managers and engineers
- Provide technical support to projects with advanced level and wide range of variety in the lab and field
- Basic interaction with clients
- Reporting and documentation of issues and processes
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of shop equipment use
- General knowledge of drawings and work instruction reading/interpretation
- Agricultural machinery operation is desirable
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment
Credentials and Experience:
- Journeyperson Certificate (Millwright, Heavy Duty Mechanic, or Agricultural Mechanic will be considered)
- Red Seal Endorsement is an asset
- 5-10 years of relevant experience
