Correctional Officers are professionals who work directly with adult offenders, holding them accountable and supporting positive change in their lives, while maintaining the safe and secure operation of the facility.
As a Correctional Officer you will:
- Be responsible for the safety and security of facility through monitoring, supervising, and interacting with offenders in various correctional settings;
- Work collaboratively in the creation and implementation of case plans for reintegration into the community;
- Lead offenders in daily programming and promote personal development in decision making and problem-solving skills;
- Work closely with adultswho may have intergenerational trauma, special needs, gender differences and various cultural and spiritual beliefs;
- Accurately interpret and apply legislation, policy, and procedures;
- Prevent, respond to, and resolve incidents, using the safest and most reasonable intervention strategies.
Typically, the requirements for success in this position are completion of a High School diploma and/or experience/education in the social sciences, correctional services, or similar discipline.
Should you receive a successful offer of employment, you will be enrolled into a paid 11 week Induction Training Program (ITP). The next ITP will be offered starting January 27, 2025.
