Under the supervision of the Healthy Families Program Director, the Head Start Home Visitor will provide to children 0 - 5 years of ages their families with comprehensive, individualized educational, social, and health services through a planned program of activities.
Qualifications and Competencies
* Minimum requirement is an Early Childhood Education Certificate
* Knowledge and awareness of cultural values and practices within the community
* Awareness of and demonstrated ability to relate to families facing multiple challenges relating to parenting
* Experience in children's programming or services
* An understanding of adult education principles and family dynamics
* An ability to demonstrate energy and enthusiasm while working with families and for the program in general
* Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, clients, and community service agencies
* Must be willing to take direction, be open to new ideas, able to learn and grow with the program, the children, and the parents
* Previous working experience with First Nations people and demonstrate an understanding of the health and social issues encountered by First Nation people and a willingness to learn about and accept First Nations cultures
* Ability to speak and understand Cree is an asset.

* Knowledge and proficiency in computers and programs such as, Microsoft Office.
* Good written and oral communication skills
* Demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and adaptability to balance the changing needs of the organization
* Ability to work independently, in an initiative-taking manner and effectively as a team player
* Valid Class 5 drivers license required with clean drivers abstract
* A successful criminal record check with vulnerable sector
