Under the supervision of the Healthy Families Director, the Home Visitor will provide support to children 0 5 years of age and their families with comprehensive, individualized educational, social, and health services through a planned program of activities.
Qualifications
Minimum requirement is an Early Childhood Education Certification and/or equivalent experience.
Knowledge and awareness of cultural values and practices within the community
Awareness of and demonstrated ability to relate to families facing multiple challenges relating to parenting.
Experience in childrens programming or services
An understanding of adult education principles and family dynamics
An ability to demonstrate energy and enthusiasm while working with families and for the program in general.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, clients, and community service agencies.
Must be willing to take direction, be open to new ideas, able to learn and grow with the program, the children, and the parents.
Previous working experience with First Nations people and demonstrate an understanding of the health and social issues encountered by First Nation people and a willingness to learn about and accept First Nations cultures.
Ability to speak and understand Cree is an asset.
Confidentiality is essential.
Knowledge and proficiency in computers and programs such as, Microsoft Office.
Good written and oral communication skills
Demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and adaptability to balance the changing needs of the organization.
Ability to work independently, in an initiative-taking manner and effectively as a team player.
Valid Class 5 drivers license required with clean drivers abstract.
