The touchwood Child & Family service Inc. Post majority Care requires an educational tutor, under the direction of the Post Majority care Coordinator. The Educational tutor shall provide Tutoring to support program participants to become more independent learners, persist in college, and reach their goals. Tutor provides individual and/or group tutoring to students across a broad range of courses to achieve their GED or assistance with courses required in their preferred training or courses.
Qualifications but are not limited to:
University Degree in Education or Bachelor of Arts with experience in training
Experience tutoring young adults.
Subject matter expertise (English and Math essential)
Patience and understanding
Creativity
Flexibility
Communication abilities
Facilitation abilities
Strong Teamwork Abilities
Duties:
Develop a plan with the youth to identify areas of learning they need assistance with.
Provide individual or group tutoring for program participants.
Develop a working relationship with external training programs to identify areas of learning program participants who may require assistance.
Assess the needs of the program participant for tools required for educational pursuits i.e., laptop, calculator, paper etc.
Assess the needs of program participants for additional support outside what the program offers and ensure the youth receives the support.
Assess the need and support specialized supports: tutoring, career counselling.
Assess the need and specialized supports: tutoring, career counselling.
Other duties as assigned.
