The Healthy Families Support Worker will work and network with the Healthy Families Program department using a range of multi-disciplinary skills that include teamwork, communication, flexibility, documentation, and program planning to support the service delivery of social supports to Jordans Principle families in a professional manner exercising confidentiality, discretion, good judgement, tact, courtesy, and diplomacy at all times.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Early Childhood Education diploma: or equivalent education, experience and training may be considered.
* Experience in childrens programming or services.
* Knowledge, skill, and ability to learn about health agencies and programs available.
* An understanding of child and adult education principles.
* An understanding of family dynamics and an awareness of and demonstrated ability to relate to families facing multiple challenges.
* Awareness of and demonstrated ability to relate to families facing multiple challenges relating to parenting.
* Excellent communication skills, written, verbal & listening.
* Ability to work independently, in a self-motivated manner, positive attitude and effective team player.
* Must have a valid class 5 drivers license.
* Must provide a successful criminal record with vulnerable sector.
* Ability to speak and understand Cree an asset.
* Previous working experience with First Nations people and demonstrate an understanding of the health and social issues encountered by First Nation people and a willingness to learn about and accept First Nations cultures.
* Demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and adaptability to balance the changing needs of the organization.
* Ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information and documents.
* Ability to work independently, in a self-motivated manner and effectively as a team player.
* Basic knowledge and proficiency in computers and programs such as, Microsoft office.
