Description

The Taxation and Intergovernmental Affairs Branch, within the Ministry of Finance, is seeking highly skilled, motivated and team-focused individuals to fill two analyst specializing in tax policy. As a policy analyst, you will provide expert and balanced advice to support effective, efficient, and fiscally responsible decision-making.

The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about contributing to the fiscal planning process and is seeking an opportunity to influence public policy issues. You will have:

- A sound understanding and knowledge of tax policy and financial management principles;
- The ability to research and synthesize various sources of information, including data analysis, to prepare briefing materials presentations and inform policy recommendations;
- The ability to convey complex information and strategic insights in a way that allows an audience to understand the issues and correspondingly make decisions;
- Strong written and oral communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills and relationship building skills that allow you to work with and influence a variety of stakeholders;
- The ability to establish and achieve objectives, often under tight timelines, which may include working some evenings/weekends during peak busy periods; and
- The ability to deal with confidential or sensitive issues.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be acquired through completion of a graduate degree in fields related to accounting, public administration, finance or economics along with related experience, or through an undergraduate degree in those fields combined with relevant experience.

An accounting designation and strong understanding of corporate income matters would be considered an asset.
