SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direct supervision of the Income Support Administrator, the Income Support Assistant will be the first point of contact for clients, service providers and the general public. The Income Support Assistant must possess excellent communication skills. They will require good knowledge of office practices and procedures as well as a good understanding of community resources. The Income Support Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of programs by providing a range of general inquiries and administrative support services. The Income Support Assistant must have sound knowledge of computer software programs and data base system in providing administrative support.
REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
1. Minimum Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
2. 1-2 years of working in administration or clerical and/or work experience in a related field.
3. Possess strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as you will need to explain program details to applicants, answer inquiries, and process information.
4. Knowledge of the Income Support program, education and training resources available to clients.
5. Some knowledge of case management and referral systems.
6. Must be willing to learn and participate in training opportunities.
7. Proficiency with office programs such as excel and word
8. Must have some knowledge and experience with a database program but not necessary.
