Duties
Heavy equipment operation.
Coordination of people, equipment, and materials in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner.
Work with superintendent, and project manager in coordinating project and driving production.
Work with owner/client, engineering consultant, superintendent, and project manager in-field in interpreting contract items, specifications and dealing with issues and concerns that may come up.
Attending and documenting site/progress meetings as required.
Ensuring quality of work through hands on supervision of crew.
Performing and documenting hazard assessments and safety meetings.
Ensuring crew members follow company rules, policies, and safe work practices.
Ensuring equipment is regularly serviced and maintained by operators.
Coordinating delivery of material.
Verifying elevations and grades.
Ensuring proper cleanup/landscaping of completed jobs.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years experience.
Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
Industry related experience.
Understanding of safe ground disturbance procedures.
Must hold and maintain a Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
Experience as a foremen of an earthworks crew.
Experience in the proper use of rotating lasers and survey equipment.
Ability to read and understand engineered drawings and specifications.
The ability to problem solve and stay focused in high pressure situations.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent leadership skills with an ability to delegate tasks clearly and effectively.
Patience in dealing with new skills, training, and orientation.
Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
Ability to work well independently in unfamiliar and remote locations.
CSA/Approved Steel toed boots.
Must be willing to work extended hours.
