Job Type: Casual (no guaranteed hours)
Job Summary: Assist immigrants in their transition to a new culture and settlement in Canada by aiding them in developing English Language skills and community knowledge that will enhance their full participation in Canadian society.
Qualifications:
- Effective group facilitation skills;
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
- Effective instructional skills - competence in instructing
conversational & academic oral English language skills;
- Ability to work with individuals with special learning needs;
- Demonstrates valuing diversity;
- Organizational and time-management skills;
- Computer literate including working knowledge of software and
internet programs pertaining to teaching ESL;
- Education & Experience: Experience teaching ESL to adults is an
asset;
Required Licenses and/or certificates;
- Criminal record check & Vulnerable Sector check;
- Valid class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's Licence & access to a reliable
vehicle;
- Must be willing to complete both PBLA training and CLB bot camp;
Responsibilities:
- Follow the teaching plan as given by the absent instructor/language
coordinator;
- Develop you own teaching plan if required to do so;
- Take daily attendance for all classes you are subbing in;
- Practice excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Work cooperatively in a team environment as well as independently;
- Follow regulations and policies adopted by the YWCA;
- All other tasks as requested by Manager;
Probation: All YWCA Prince Albert positions contain a three month probationary period.
