The Urban Service Coordinator under the direction of George Gordon Off-Reserve Advisory Board (Inc), will have primary responsibility to act as a focal point for the off-reserve families that we serve. The coordinator provides service coordination and planning in cooperation with other agencies, resources and personnel, directly relating to families in need.
QUALIFICATIONS:
University/Collage diploma in a field related to education or social work, however, a combination of skills, education and experience that are relevant may be considered;
Experience working with Indigenous people, organizations and communities;
Experience supporting Indigenous youth and or community, and an understanding of Indigenous ways of Knowing, Being, Leaning and Doing;
An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal, conflict resolution and community relations skills;
Ability to identify, source and access community support and resources and/or agencies;
Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Mental Act, CFS Act, Vulnerable Person Legislation, etc.;
Excellent oral and written communication;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint;
Class 5 Drivers License and reliable transportation;
Current CPIC and vulnerable sector check required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:
Identifying families with unmet needs;
Relationship building and building networks;
Knowing and reaching out to other programs and agencies to support families;
Ensuring that families are receiving safe, culturally appropriate care;
Managing funds provided through resources/agencies for approved services and supports;
Getting to know and work with other service coordinators to identify gaps and avoid duplication of services;
Follow up with families and assess to ensure their needs are being met.
