Under the Direction of the Prevention Program Supervisor the Prevention Worker is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, coordinating and evaluating the delivery of Child and Family services to children and their families.
QUALIFICATIONS
- University or College degree in an associated field required.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working youth and families.
- A strong understanding of First Nation issues and communities;
- Previous community related experience an asset.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Knowledge of federal structures including legislation, policies and programs relevant to First Nations people.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Valid CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Check.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, develop, implement, coordinate and evaluate the delivery of support services to children and their families.
- Provide specialized home and community- based support and prevention services to children and their families.
- Deliver programs that promote healthy lifestyles with wrap around services, and assist in the coordination of community development and educational services.
- Respect and protect the rights of clients, including but not limited to their right to independence, autonomy, and self-determination; their right to choose and practice individual values, beliefs, religion, and culture; their right to privacy and dignity; and their right to live free from retaliation, discrimination, and abuse.
- Keep up-to-date on the issues facing the Native community, including but not limited to changing legislation.
- Maintain detailed records of interactions with clients and store and maintain them in accordance with governmental regulations.
- Respect and protect the privacy of information relating to all company clients, employees, and business affairs.
- Maintain current knowledge and practice of all relevant plans, policies and procedures as established by the Nation.
