Description

The Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Outreach Worker  Response Team is a part of pilot project with Saskatoon Police Service created to support the needs of those involved with IPV  both those at risk of and/or using violence and those at risk of and/or experiencing violence in a relationship. The IPV Worker, as part of the IPV Response Team, will provide risk assessments to determine individualized interventions. The IPV Worker will also provide targeted interventions such as safety planning, crisis counselling, outreach services, support, and education. The IPV Response Team will work to address service delivery issues, identify gaps, and remove barriers to accessing services.
Process referrals for situations identified as high risk of intimate partner violence occurring.
Accompany Saskatoon Police Service officer to locations throughout the community, including home visits, to ensure interventions are provided to those involved in the situation/potential situation of intimate partner violence.
Provide risk assessments to canvas for specific risk factors including the use of violence or coercive control, regardless of whether charges have been laid.
Assess the dynamic of the relationship, identify concurrent risks, and identify potential for creating an unsafe home/situation.
Provide supports to potentially mitigate or decrease further risk of violence occurring by providing various individualized interventions, assess needs and make referrals as appropriate.
Provide safety planning, short-term crisis counselling, crisis management and outreach services for individuals impacted by intimate partner violence as well as advocate and liaison on behalf of clients.
