Description

We are looking for 18 - 20 energetic individuals with a passion for skating and helping people to instruct our Learn To Skate Program.

General Information:

    Program locations: A.C.T, Cosmo, and Lions Arenas
    Instructor shifts: Monday-Thursday January 6th  March 6th.
    Lesson times:
Childrens Skate- 4:00-4:45pm
Preschool Skate - 4:15-4:45pm
    Skating programs are designed for children ages 3 to 9
    Learn to Skate provides basic skating instruction in a fun and safe learning environment.
    Rate of Pay: $16.00/hour
    Each course will have 2-3 instructors so you will be co-teaching with another amazing instructor.

Instructor Qualifications:

    Must be 16 years of age or older
    Experience working with children ages 3 to 9 is preferred
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    Knowledge of the fundamental skills of skating
    The ability to lead a group of children in a structured activity
    Past involvement and participation in ice skating sports is an asset.
    CPR/SFA certification is an asset

Instructor Duties and Expectations:
    Instructors must have the ability to arrive 10 minutes prior to the class starting to set up and 10 minutes after the class to clean up.
    Consistent attendance for the entirety of the 8 week classes. Communicate with the recreation technician about any attendance concerns.
    Travel to various rinks throughout the city, arrive on time and set up for the lesson.
    Instruct a group of children based on criteria provided.
    Prepare lesson plans for classes that reflect the level of the participants.
    Provide constructive feedback throughout the lesson set to the participant and parents.
