Description

We are currently seeking 2 term positions for Employment Counsellor/Instructor to join our Newcomer Career & Support Services team at Rooted Connections.

Job duties includes:
-Develops instructional plans to suit the requirements of the funded programs
-Plan and facilitates group employment sessions for Newcomer clients
-Delivery of employment instruction
-Planning, delivering communicative, task-based, and outcome focused employment workshops
-Provide on-ongoing needs assessment and evaluation of clients work readiness
-Transition clients in and out of the classroom to one-one counselling.
-Develops and strengthen program design, activities and curriculum to ensure quality programming that meets clients need.
-Programming will include group information sessions and one-on-one support. You will focus on newcomers, including women, with limited education and workplace experience
-Will provide employment-related services which will prepare newcomers for the workforce and connect clients with employers
-Conduct an assessment of clients to ensure they are employment ready
-Meet with clients to discuss goals and create an achievable action plan
-Provide one-to-one assistance for clients that need resume, cover letter or job search assistance
-Provides external referrals when necessary
-Arrange for workplace tours and local employer presentations
-Provide ongoing job coaching and follow-up of clients who have secured employment. Follow up clients for approximately 6 months post hiring
-Fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for learners
-Develop and maintain positive working relationships with employers and community support agencies
-Ongoing monitoring of program outcomes.
-Submitting monthly reports
-Performing other position-related duties as needed
