Description

The Employment Counsellor provides career guidance, job readiness support, and assistance with job search, career decision-making, and maintaining employment for individuals in the Community Service Centres service area.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Relationship Management:
Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues.

Client Interviews and Assessments:
Interview clients to gather information on their education, career goals, and barriers to employment. Assist with job readiness, job search strategies, resume writing, and interview preparation.

Referral Services:
Assess client needs for additional support (financial aid, training) and refer them to appropriate services.

Vocational Counselling and Career Assessment:
Provide personalized counselling and assessments to determine client potential for training or employment. Offer career testing and job search preparation.

Action Plan Development:
Collaborate with clients to create and implement strength-based action plans to achieve career goals.

Group Counselling and Workshops:
Lead group sessions and workshops on job search techniques and career development.

Eligibility and Documentation:
Maintain accurate records and document client eligibility for support programs.

Employer Recruitment and Work Placements:
Recruit and maintain relationships with employers for job placements and on-the-job training.

Work Assessment Contracts:
Negotiate and oversee work assessment contracts to provide clients with hands-on experience.

Case Management and Reporting:
Track client progress and maintain statistical reporting for program evaluation.
