Job Description: Social Support Worker  Second Stage Housing

Position Overview:

Second Stage Housing is looking for a compassionate, part-time Social Support Worker to provide comprehensive support for individuals experiencing homelessness. The position requires working approximately 10 days per month, mainly evening shifts. Your primary goal will be to empower clients by helping them build life skills, overcome challenges, and enhance their independence and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

-Assist clients in obtaining social benefits and provide referrals to resources such as legal, medical, financial aid, housing, and employment services.
-Offer support to clients in group homes and halfway houses, assisting with activities, pre-release, and transition planning.
-Facilitate life skills workshops, substance abuse programs, behavior management, youth services, and other community programs.
-Regularly meet with clients to assess progress, provide support, and address challenges.
-Track and evaluate clients' behavioral changes and responses to treatment programs.
-Advise on social assistance, organize service delivery, and collaborate with social agencies and healthcare providers involved in client care.
-Evaluate clients skills, strengths, and needs, offering guidance to develop action plans.

Qualifications:

-Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
-In-depth understanding of social services, community resources, and regulations.
-Effective in problem-solving, crisis intervention, and prioritizing tasks independently and within a team.
-Empathetic, committed to advocating for vulnerable populations and supporting their well-being.
-Flexibility for evening shifts and part-time commitment (10 days per month).
