QUALIFICATIONS:
University degree or college diploma (two year minimum) in a field related to Human Services, Education or Social Work. However, other combinations of skills, education and experience that are relevant may be considered.
Minimum of one-year direct service experience with children and families
Experience working with Indigenous people, organizations, and communities
Experience supporting Indigenous youth and or community, and an understanding of Indigenous ways of Knowing, Being, Learning and Doing.
Knowledge and understanding of Jordans Principle.
An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal, conflict resolution and community relations skills.
Ability to identify, source and access community supports and resources/agencies
Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act, CFS Act, Vulnerable Persons Legislation, etc.
Excellent oral and written communication.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of tools: Outlook, Word, Excel, Access.
Class 5 Drivers License and reliable transportation, CPIC and vulnerable sector check is required.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
Identifying children with unmet needs
Relationship building and building networks
Knowing and reaching out to other programs and services to support the family
Ensuring that children are receiving safe, culturally appropriate care
Submitting requests with supporting documentation to Jordans Principle
Managing funds provided through Jordans Principle for approved services and supports
Getting to know and working with other service coordinators to identify gaps and avoid duplication of services
Follow up with families and assess all needs of a child, and ensure those needs are met.
