Elmwood Residences Inc. is a non-profit organization committed to supporting those living with intellectual disabilities. We believe in providing choices and opportunities to support learning and growth, fostering understanding, respect and advocating for all individuals.
As a Support Worker you are responsible for providing support and care to individuals experiencing intellectual disabilities living in the Elmwood Community Homes. You will provide resident support and care in a manner that meets the individual's unique needs.
Responsibilities:
-Support Residents to maintain skills and capacities and provide opportunities to develop new skills and growth.
-Follow and implement established routines, support plans, and behaviour support strategies.
-Provide personal care, support and assistance to residents in daily living activities.
-Complete medication administration in line with medication administration training and procedures.
-Provide nutritious meals for residents and ensure a clean and safe living environment in line with standards.
-Complete and maintain resident records, files, and progress notes.
-Transport and support residents to attend appointments and recreational opportunities.
-Communicate openly and take direction from Community Home Coordinators to provide support and respond effectively in situations and incidences.
Qualifications:
-Valid class 5 driver's license (minimum of Novice 2).
-Criminal Records Check including Vulnerable Sector Clearance will be required.
-Grade 12 Diploma; Secondary Certificate in Disability Support Worker/Certified Care Assistant etc. is considered an asset.
-Education and experience with individuals experiencing intellectual disabilities and aging considered an asset
-Intermediate computer skills.
