Description

The City of Swift Current is inviting applications for a permanent full-time in-scope position of Administrative Assistant in the Community Services Division.  Under the supervision of the Events and Program Manager, the Administrative Assistant provides administrative and facility scheduling work for the Community Services Division.  In addition, this position will work and liaise with community groups on special events and programs.  

Basic Requirements:
    Successful completion of Grade 12, and a certificate in Business/Office Administration from a recognized community college, technical or vocational school or institute;
    Previous experience in scheduling, reception, filing, administrative duties and accounting/financial practices for at least two (2) years;
    Ability to type, with accuracy and speed;
    Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Creative Suite and Canva;
    Good working knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment;
    Strong customer service skills with the ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public in a fast-paced environment.
    Ability to adapt and take initiative to meet community and department needs
    Ability to work independently and with a self-directed approach, as well as the ability to work will within a team and with all levels of staff and management.
    Willingness to become Safe Places Community Certified;
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and
    Flexible to work outside of 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including evenings and weekends.
Desirable Requirements:
    Preference will be given to an individual with a diploma/degree, training or experience in the Recreation, Parks and Culture field, Event Management, and/or Community Planning;
    Customer Service Training;
    General knowledge of city parks and open spaces, understanding of sports, recreation and culture organizations;
    Experience working with community groups and organizations, volunteers and events.
