The Director of Operations serves as a strategic leader of GGFN Administration and will collaborate closely with the Chief & Council to develop and implement long term strategic plans to align with the communities, goals and cultural values. The Director of Operations will work under direction of the Chief & Council ensuring all departments are working within their agreements, budget parameters and for the best interest of the Nation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Bachelors degree in business administration, public administration, indigenous studies or related field, a combination of education and experience will be considered;
Minimum five years senior managerial/supervisory experience required in a First Nation organization preferred;
Excellent organizational, strategic planning and implementation skills;
Proven skills to interact effectively with employees in order to direct workflow, assess performance and assign duties;
Ability to assign and delegate work, problem solve, answer questions, and evaluate results of performance;
Working knowledge of employment, human rights, and labour law;
Experience in facilitation, negotiation and interest-based problem solving;
In-depth knowledge and understanding of First Nations people, the cultures, communities, service agencies and political structures;
Knowledge of provincial and federal structures including legislation, policies, and programs relevant to First Nations people.
