Description

The Home Health Aides (HHA) role is to provide personal care and home management based on assessed needs. The HHA encourages clients, to be as independent as possible. This position reports to and is overseen by a Home Care Registered Nurse.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Adhere to the Human Resource Policy as set out by the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation Chief & Council;
    Maintain strict confidentiality at all times;
    Must understand, support and participate in the community enhancement initiatives in working towards the vision of Muskeg Lake Cree Nation which improves the quality of life;
    Performing in a confidential and accountable manner.
    Assisting client to be as independent as possible;
    Light housekeeping; Changing linen; Laundry;
    Menu planning; Meal preparation/assistance;
    Heavy cleaning and seasonal cleaning based on assessed needs.
    Daily hygiene assistance; Bathing & grooming;
    Assistance with eating/feeding;
    Assistance with transfers/mobility; Range of motion exercises;
    Assistance with toileting; Dressing;
    Basic wound dressings; Skin care;
    Routine basic foot & nail care (non-diabetic clients only);
    Assistance with medical regimes as certified; Bedtime assistance;
    Support, encouragement and guidance to family members caring for terminally ill clients living at home;
    Systematic checks with individuals, usually through regular phone calls or visits, to ensure that they are managing satisfactorily;
    Reporting relevant changes in clients condition or caregiver status to supervisor;
    Making recommendations for improvement in clients care to supervisor;
    Maintaining accurate records of care given and health status changes observed in clients, as per standard;
    Maintaining monthly statistics/reports; develop yearly work-plan and training plan;
    Attending training programs and in-services to maintain/increase knowledge base;
    Other duties as assigned by the HCC Nurse or the Director of Health and Wellness within the scope of practice
