ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops, prepares, and analyzes actual period end, quarterly and year-end consolidated financial statements, and other reports with oversight from the Controller and the General Manager.
Prepares financial statements and reports for filing with regulatory agencies based on relevant accounting standards. Analyzes and reconciles complex financial reporting discrepancies and ensures compliance with financial transaction recording standards.
Supports the planning, preparation, and documentation for the auditing process, including gathering documentation and the preparation for processing various sales, purchase, and expense documents. Assisting in reviewing accuracy of financial statements.
Oversees all human resources undertakings with regards to direct reports. This includes, but is not limited to hiring, training, developing, evaluating, disciplining and terminations.
Performs routine and unplanned audits to assess departments controls. Encourages and assists department managers to correct negative financial variances when required.
Advises department managers on best practices and procedures for handling of department documents.
Collaborates with the Controller to provide input of fiscal policies and procedures for the Co-operative. Monitors the implementation and/or compliance of new fiscal policies and procedures.
CERTIFICATIONS, QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
Possess a post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree .
Professional designation in accounting and/or finance is an asset.
Strong financial acumen including the ability to review and analyze financial statements.
Knowledge of and experience in a computerized environment, including the operation and administration of a point-of-sale computer system.
Proficient in office software packages (MS Office, Excel).
Maintains acceptable criminal record and credit reference to ensure eligibility for bonding.
