Qualifications:
Education requirements include a Practical Nursing Diploma;
Licensed with the Saskatchewan Association of Licensed Practical Nurses;
Must work effectively as a team member and model a proactive approach, flexibility, tolerance, perseverance, and competence in counseling, assessment, and crisis management situations;
Excellent writing and verbal skills are required;
Must possess a valid driver's license;
Understanding and awareness of First Nations culture;
Must pass YWCA Security Clearance (includes VSC);
Duties:
Provide on-call responsibilities as may be required;
Provide recovery-oriented services as per case load duties and responsibilities including assistance with skills of daily living; medication management; residents with cigarette plans, transportation; social, leisure, and recreational activities; crisis intervention; and other direct client services;
Assure appropriate records are completed and maintained such as contact notes, incident reports, statistics, and other reporting requirements;
Attend shift change, staff meetings, and planning meetings as required;
Participate in staff training including in-service presentations, First Aid/CPR, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, ASIST, Reality Therapy/Choice Theory Certification, MH First Aid, and Psychosocial Rehabilitation Certification and other training that may be required;
Keep current on relevant literature and research; attend conferences, training, and other educational opportunities to keep current regarding changes in the field, best practice, and evidence-based practice;
Be willing and able to perform First Aid/CPR;
Have knowledge of Mental Health First Aid and provide appropriate, professional responses to residents disclosing thoughts of self-harm or suicide, hallucinations, delusions, or other symptoms;
