Description

Plan, organize and implement programs for children between the ages of infancy to 5 years of age. The worker will lead children in activities to stimulate and develop the child's intellectual, physical and emotional growth while ensuring their security and well-being.

1.    Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the childs physical, cognitive, emotional and social developmental needs:

    Review the information received on each child as assigned by the Program Manager
    Plan for each child in conjunction with the parents and involved professionals and agencies, relevant to the child and familys resources and needs
    Meet with other support staff to discuss the childs needs
    Provide a daily balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group activities
    Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
    Assist children in expressing themselves by listening and responding with questions or comments that extend conversations
    Use a variety of teaching techniques including modelling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing
