Description

With direction from Education, the After Hours Youth Crisis Support Worker will  provide services to the community of Kinistin Saulteaux Nation.  Under the supervision of the NEC Principal, the incumbent will provide after hours and on-call support and liaison service during times of crisis.  The incumbent will think critically and be cooperative with community resources as required.  The incumbent will work closely and be able to act quickly with clients, family members and Mental Health staff to provide referrals, support, referrals and advocacy.  Maintaining accurate documentation will be a component of the position.  
Working with youth after normal work hours, in the community, who have mental health crisis needs to provide education, support, activities, and make referrals to all departments in all areas related to mental health;
Face to Face assessments with youth in crisis with clients in their natural settings/home to determine crisis needs.
Collaborating with other Mental Health programs (i.e., KSN Prevention, KEC School staff, KSN Protection staff) to provide holistic health support for the clients;
Providing assistance and support for community youth dealing with crisis, as well as facilitating, debriefing and diffusing;
Advocacy for clients with hospitals/Emergency department staff, and other applicable
Providing accurate and timely referrals to other departments crisis response team members for continued assistance and treatment;
Keeping accurate and complete case notes for client files and transition to professional Mental Health Team members;
Develop and implement youth activities programs and playground supervision on evenings and weekends;
Act as liaison for the NNADAP program specifically with Youth;
Supervise and operate Gym hours on evenings and weekends.
