Description

The Healthy Babies Right from the Start Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting pregnant women, new mothers, and their families by providing culturally sensitive prenatal and postnatal education, resources, and support. This position coordinates comprehensive care services, collaborates with healthcare providers, and ensures clients receive holistic support throughout pregnancy and early motherhood.

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Provide one-on-one support to pregnant women and new mothers. Focus on education in areas such as prenatal health, nutrition, childbirth preparation, breastfeeding, infant care, and postpartum wellness.
-Assist clients in accessing healthcare services and community resources. Ensure clients receive the necessary healthcare services, community resources, and postnatal care.
-Develop, implement, and evaluate prenatal and postnatal programs. Incorporate both traditional Indigenous knowledge and contemporary medical advice to meet the needs of clients.
-Coordinate with healthcare providers and community organizations. Ensure comprehensive and continuous care by working with professionals such as midwives, nutritionists, Public Health Nurses, and community organizations.
-Conduct community outreach and build relationships. Raise awareness of services and ensure widespread access to the program through community engagement.

Requirements:
-Diploma or degree in nursing, social work, or a related field with a focus on maternal and child health, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
-Experience working with Indigenous communities, particularly in healthcare or social services.
-Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and strong keyboarding skills.
-Strong organizational, program management, communication, and interpersonal skills
-Valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.
-Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check required.
