Responsible for crisis intervention in a full range of human and social problems:
-Child protection services
-Emergency financial assistance
-Front line sexual assault counselling
-Marital and family dispute intervention/counselling
-Suicide intervention and 9-8-8 Suicide Hotline
-Youth services
-Trauma Crisis Intervention
-Witness in family services court
-Refer clients to appropriate community resource
-Domestic/Interpersonal Violence calls
-Community Support
-Intervention may take place by way of telephone or in person.
CRITICAL FACTORS
-Good interpersonal skills with clients and other agencies
-Ability to make quick and accurate assessments of crisis situations
-Ability to quickly develop and implement an effective intervention plan
-Trauma Informed Care
-Must be able to gather information and write accurate and to the point reports, often for referral to other agencies
-Must be capable of assuming role of leadership and responsibility
-Must be able to cope with stress
-Must be able to work independently or in a team
-Must be able to prioritize
-Must possess good verbal and written communication skills
-SENSITIVITY must be sensitive when assisting, supporting, counselling clients
-Must be able to understand the social, cultural and economic circumstances of our clients and take these factors into account when providing services
-Must have good PR skill and educational abilities may be required to do some media or some speaking engagements
-Must be able to work night shifts (11:30pm - 8:30am)
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
-Post-secondary education required, preferable in social work, but other related post-secondary education will be considered. In addition, preference will be given to individuals with two or more years of related experience in the human services field.
-Valid Insurable Saskatchewan Drivers license required
-Police security check is required
