The SaskSPCA is a registered charity working to prevent animal cruelty and promote the welfare of animals and their people.
The Outreach Coordinator plays an important role in raising awareness of the SaskSPCA and animal welfare issues. The Outreach Coordinator will create and oversee a volunteer program and support new and existing fundraising initiatives.
Accountability: The Outreach Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop a volunteer program
- Recruit, train, motivate, support, and reward volunteers
- Assist with donor relations activities such as writing thank you notes and phoning donors
- Serve as liaison with other groups and organizations
- Assist with public events and educational outreach activities
- Assist with the operation of existing SaskSPCA fundraising programs (e.g. online raffle, monthly giving)
- Assist with the development of new fundraising events and promotions
- Assist in planning for educational conferences and webinars
- Serve on committees as needed
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Education, training, or experience related to animal health and welfare, fundraising, or public relations
- Communication (clear verbal & written communications/effective listening)
- Interpersonal skills (social sensitivity/approachability/building and maintaining relationships)
- Teamwork (sharing information freely/asking for help/flexibility to pitch in)
- Accountability (follows through on responsibilities and commitments/reliable and dependable)
- Confidentiality (maintains details appropriately/shares sensitive information with appropriate parties)
- Creative thinking (sees opportunities for new ways of working/brings a fresh perspective, and identifies unorthodox approaches to situations)
- Valid driver's licence
- Ability to travel and access to a reliable vehicle
- Provide satisfactory criminal record check without the vulnerable sector
