Description

Under the authority of Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, the Early Learning Center & Aboriginal HeadStart Coordinator is responsible for the overall management, planning, organization, and supervision of all programs and resources within the Early Learning Center (ELC) and Aboriginal HeadStart program. This role ensures the efficient and effective operation of the Center in alignment with the philosophy, policies, and objectives established by Muskeg Lake Cree Nation Chief and Council and adheres to the Saskatchewan First Nations Early Learning Facilities Regulations. The Coordinator reports directly to the Principal of Kihiw Waciston Community School.
Roles & Responsibilities:
    Lead the development and implementation of the Early Learning Centers daily programs for toddlers and preschoolers, ensuring they align with the Play and Exploration Early Learning Program Guide;
    Oversee the creation of culturally responsive early learning activities that promote the    physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of children;
    Support the Aboriginal HeadStart program by integrating culturally significant teachings and values into early learning frameworks;
    Evaluate the effectiveness of early learning programs and recommend improvements or adjustments as needed;
    Supervise and mentor staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment;
    Develop staff schedules and ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet the needs of the children and programs;
    Encourage staff to pursue post-secondary Early Childhood Education (ECE) qualifications, including Orientation, Certificate, and Diploma programs;
    Lead performance reviews for staff and provide ongoing professional development opportunities;
    Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, providing clear communication, information, and updates on their childs development;
    Encourage and support active parental involvement in both the Early Learning Center and Aboriginal HeadStart programs;
