The School Outreach Liaison is responsible for creating, strengthening and maintaining linkages between the school, families and the community. The School Outreach Liaison supports transitions of students into and within the school, liaising with families and First Nation communities and leaders, and bridging cultural differences to ensure all students feel a sense of place, caring and belonging in the school.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively engage with a wide range of client groups and understanding of how to deliver culturally responsive services to a diverse group of students, families and communities.
Excellent problem-solving skills and solution focused interaction.
Deep knowledge of Indigenous ancestry, culture, teachings and traditions.
Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills.
Ability to manage confidential material and maintain staff and student privacy.
Qualifications:
Diploma or equivalent in a human service-related field (i.e.: Mental Health and Addictions Counselling, Youth Care Worker, Child and Youth Care Counsellor) if no previous experience working as a Community School Coordinator or Family Liaison Worker.
A minimum 3 years of experience working with children and youth.
Working Conditions:
As per CUPE Agreement
Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 10 months per year
Commencing October 15, 2024
Salary Range: $30.47 - $36.77 per hour
This position requires a flexible work day and requires some evening and weekend work
Some travel between schools and community organizations is required using a private vehicle with employer-paid mileage
