Description

DEPARTMENT AND POSITION PROFILE
SGEUs finance department provides critical internal and external strategic support driving continuous improvement of operational and finance functions for all levels of SGEUs operations. A member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the Director of Finance is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing SGEUs financial performance and strategy. The Director of Finance manages financial functions for all levels of the organization including budgeting, financial reporting, audits and compliance.

Candidates will have
- Post secondary education in finance, accounting, commerce, or related field, combined with management experience with a strong record of progressive responsibility.
- A recognized accounting credential is considered an asset.
- Exceptional understanding of financial regulations, accounting principles, and financial management best practices.
- Experience working in an automated office environment using financial accounting software and most features of Microsoft Office 365 such as: Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook, TEAMS, databases;
- Background in the trade union movement or previous experience leading in a unionized environment is an asset.
- Proven track record establishing and maintaining functional relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills typically demonstrated writing and presenting presentations; and,
- Proven record upholding ethical conduct in financial management matters, combined with advanced analytical skills, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
