Regina Immigrant Women Centre (RIWC) is recruiting for its program: Youth Employment and Skills Strategy to Advance Immigrant Youth (YES-STAIY)- under the Employment and Social Development Canadas (ESDC) Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS).
DUTIES
Build relationships with various employers and get them to partner with RIWC in hiring the newcomer youth who are clients of the RIWC YES-STAIY program
Establish and maintain a list of potential employers in Regina
Negotiate and coordinate work placement opportunities for clients
Work with the immigrant youth to secure employment placements
Coordinate the employment exposure, on-site work experience components, and monitor the progress of each youth
Conduct the work placement follow up and evaluation process
Develop, record and maintain statistical client data
Document and assess the students progress
Provide support for in-house training and preparing lessons
Develop and implement student learning outcomes
Serve as a career coach / employment counselor for clients. including one-on-one resume writing and interview prep and follow up sessions
Evaluate individual client background and match same to potential openings and trainings
Coach and prepare clients for interviews and entry into the workforce
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree and 1-2years related experience with diverse student populations, especially newcomers and immigrants
Knowledge of the current Saskatchewan/local labour market initiatives and Employment Standards
Knowledge of career counseling and assessment
Working knowledge of computer-based software programs
Valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Critical thinking and problem solving
Strong organizational skills, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to work with minimum guidance and under strict timelines
Experience in administering wellness programs will be an added advantage
