The available position is for a full-time general farm working on a mixed grain/sheep operation
located in central-east Saskatchewan in the RM of Lipton at NE29-24-13-W2. The duties of this
position will be dependent on the candidates existing licensing and experience. The primary
responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
basic animal husbandry ie. feeding, handling, vaccinating, etc.
building/maintaining pens
assisting in lambing
operating machinery (ex. telehandlers and tractors)
maintenance and cleaning of machinery and facilities
hauling silage
seasonal field work (ex. harrowing, discing, spreading fertilizer, etc.)
harvest (ex. Grain cart, baling, etc.)
The wage of this position will start at $18/hour that will be paid out at the end of each month.
There is a guarantee of 40 hours/week all year round. The standard work week will be
Monday-Friday, but will extend into weekends during lambing, seeding, shearing, silaging and
harvest times. Start and end time will vary with the season. Supper will be provided if working
past 5:30 pm. Extended time off will be available during times of year that are not busy (etc. end
of October, November, beginning of December).
The start date for this position is as soon as possible. The position comes with a 2-year contract
of employment. Extension of contract possible at the end of term. Termination will occur if the
employee conducts themselves in a manner unbefitting to the farm operation. Examples of such
conduct includes, but is not limited to, substance abuse, theft, aggressive behaviour, continued
absence from work without notice or leave, and misuse or mistreatment of farm animals and
equipment.
Employee will be responsible for covering the cost of their own rent, utilities, and groceries.
