The HIV Strategy Coordinator will work with Partner HIV Strategy Coordinators in the implementation of the NITHA HIV Strategy, including liaise with the Sk. HIV Collaborative team and SHA HIV coordinators.
The HIV Strategy Coordinator will act as a resource person to support and apply a strategic approach to building capacity in the NITHA communities. The Coordinator will jointly: provide contact tracing, case management, and plan and deliver capacity building workshops or similar activities; promote a culturally competent understanding among support staff, provide expert advice and technical assistance in the design of an ethical HIV and AIDS strategy that is methodologically sound, culturally appropriate, respectful and relevant.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
A Bachelors degree in Nursing with current SRNA registration.
3 years of relevant work experience in community or population health with a focus on communicable disease.
Knowledge of current trends, issues and best practice strategies in HIV prevention care and support, including co-infections and harm reduction concepts and practice.
Demonstrated case management, teaching, training, clinical support and consultation skills.
Ability to engage community and leadership to increase supports for HIV positive persons and advocate for healthy public policies and services that promote and protect the health and well-being of northern communities.
Knowledge of HIPA, the Sk. Public Health Act and CDC Regulations.
Knowledge of the population health approach to health promotion and prevention, relating to social determinates of health.
Proficient computers skills, specifically Panorama, excel and power-point.
Experience working in a First Nations organization and/or ability to speak a First Nations language is an asset.
Valid drivers license necessary as travel will be required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
